Going Somewhere
The summer sun is drying all the rivers, A stream of steel delivers me instead, On a beam, the clicker and clacker of wheels, With all this chatter, we're driving ahead. The flicker and flacker of light, behind my closed eyes, a slight nap, a world of vibrations fills me with time, the sun caressing my skin in a chime, made out of masts and rural stations, nothing to do and nowhere to be, — it's a blessing. Suddenly, it's loud — children's laughter, They are pointing out — a plane in the sky, and some German looks after the time: "Wir sind zu spät, es ist viertel vor drei!" We would be happy if we never arrived, at least the children and me, now I feel sad as I'm being deprived, from never arriving. It is a terrible habit.

Thoughts
This poem is the result of blowing up a smaller one I wrote after reading the prompt “closed eyelids” provided by
while sitting on a train:The train is racing A flicker of light A world of vibrations The sun caressing my skin — Children's laughter. Why would I want to arrive?
It's not a unique observation, but people want to arrive. Even if we go somewhere we don't want to be; we complain when we move slower than planned. We can't wait for the train to move again, bringing us closer to the things we hate.
We are also moving faster all the time. Once, rivers were the fastest mode of transport, then trains, and now planes. The time we have to stare at the world and wait is steadily reduced, and we lose all the time we had between places in the past.
Last but not least, you can find people who (usually finally) want to arrive on all the online dating platforms. Relationships are the last thing you can arrive at. It sounds romantic to imagine you find someone and build a life you are content with, but that is not the reality. People change, and humans are never contempt for long. We, as animals, strive and improve because we are unhappy by nature.
When it comes to relationships, mastery is found in the ability to travel together, not in arriving.
